Research and Innovation Center Cognitive Service Systems KODIS

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies are fundamentally changing the way services are provided and used. Skills that are typically human are supported by machine cognitive systems, which is leading to considerable efficiency gains and completely new areas of economic growth. In addition to addressing technological questions, this requires the consideration of organisational and social aspects in the development and implementation of AI-supported services.

As an international pioneer, the FIZ ‘Cognitive Service Systems’ will significantly shape the future of application-oriented service research using cognitive technologies and enable sustainable value creation. With our methods and tools, we support companies and organisations in the development of AI-supported service innovations that are integrated into technical systems and implemented in economically viable ecosystems. With our holistic approach, we set new standards for an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable business and society.

Key topics:

  • Responsible AI and service quality: Designing AI-supported services that consider ethical, social and ecological factors.
  • AI-supported development and provision of cognitive service systems: Use of AI for automation, customisation, and innovation of service processes.
  • Innovative service technologies and infrastructures for cognitive service systems: Use of sensor technology, robotics, and digital twins to enhance cognitive services.
  • Future-proof value creation with AI: Development of new business models, data-based value creation, and sustainable ecosystems.
